The training is delivered in person at the Quadram Institute (Norwich Research Park).

Each week runs Monday to Friday, with hands-on sessions led by researchers and bioinformaticians from the Institute and collaborating groups. Wednesday is free from training, and is time given to you to review the progress done, practice at your own pace, eventually coming up with questions for the instructors.

We adapt our pace to the audience, so the programme on the website is an indication based on our previous year’s experience, but we will adjust every day.

CLIMB notebooks

Rather than working on personal laptops, we make use of CLIMB (the Cloud Infrastructure for Microbial Bioinformatics), which provides computational capacity through the browser via JupyterHub-style notebook servers.

This means everyone works in a consistent, pre-configured environment regardless of what hardware they bring, and there is no need to install bioinformatics software locally: you will just need a laptop with a modern web browser and a stable internet connection.
